I’ve been writing a report for a company that is being managed by a committee of senior execs. When I was whining about how difficult it is to meet everyone’s requirements my husband came up with the phrase, “a camel is a horse designed by a committee.”
I’d missed that one. But today it sure makes sense!
I cannot WAIT to tell Shaun this one. She is going to roll out laughing, and probably take a picture of a camel and a horse into her next meeting as visual aids. Committee decision making: not good. Uneven and inconsistent. Committee input: good, essential to have all the facts to make solid decisions.
SO funny! Tell your hubby he’s onto the latest in business self-help books, he’ll make a fortune. Instead of FISH, there will be “Camel”.
This is an old saying – maybe at least 50 years. The problem with it is that it’s designed by Nature, and the Camel – Dormitory or Bactrian – is a highly efficient beast of burden. furthermore, being domesticated, it designed by man by selective breeding. I suspect the prejudice against the camel is due bias favoring Equestrianism. It’s an instance of grass is NOT being greener at one’s neighbor’s lawn. It’s an instance of I’m better than you – just because I’m me. On the other hand, the Horse is beautiful looking – but is that because I’m used to the Horse?
