How Escher created his famous flying horses

M.C. Escher created several tessellations using horse images.

Maurits Cornelis Escher (1898-1972) is one of the world’s most famous graphic artists who is known as the King of Tessellations.

A tessellation is created when a shape is repeated over and over again covering a plane without any gaps or overlaps. (Definition from http://mathforum.org/sum95/suzanne/whattess.html)

His flying horses were created using this technique. Now a video shows how it was done.
