Elvis was running out of time. The 14 hand pony was up to his neck in mud having been trapped in a bog.

Fire crews from the West Midlands Fire Service specialist technical rescue team arrived at the farm in Allesley, Coventry to find the pony almost completely submerged.

One rescuer put on a dry suit and jumped into the mud. Along with two others, they shoveled mud away from Elvis and fit straps in place underneath his stomach and around his front legs.

With help from the Coventry fire station a 10-man strong team then slowly pulled the horse to safety. Amazingly, the rescue took just two hours and Elvis appears to be okay!
