The videos of XC are all posted on Burghley TV. It was a good day with 52 clear rounds, no serious injuries and no fence that racked up rider casualties (I believe there were four falls, each at a different fence).
Going into showjumping, William Fox-Pitt is in the lead, potentially winning his sixth Burghley title. Andrew Nicholson is in second place. In fact, Fox-Pitt, Nicholson and Mary King have six horses in the top 10!
One of the real feel good stories of Burghley, however, is the success of Boyd Martin and Neville Bardos. Just three months after Boyd ran back into his burning barn to bring out Neville, after the horse recovered from smoke inhalation and burns in his lungs, he completed a double clear XC round at Burghley. Neville was the last horse that was brought out of the barn and suffered the most severe injuries. What a testament to the good treatment at New Bolton and the on-going care by Boyd Martin and his team!
