The feeling of the perfect jump

A Good Start
Love this vintage postcard!

There’s very little that compares to the feeling of nailing a jump — seeing the spot from a good distance back and riding forward into that spot so that each jump is right in stride.

It’s exhilarating. It sounds easy. And sometimes it’s very difficult to achieve.

Some days it seems like jumping is unbelievably difficult. You bury your horse into a fence so that your horse lurches or crawls over it. Or leaves a stride or two out, launching from distances that take your breath away.

Today we had one of the good days. The magical days. The days when every fence was perfect.

What a gift.
