Riding as therapy

Clear my mind
An evening ride
I didn’t get to ride tonight, but yesterday I rode both horses. We did some conditioning in the field next to the ring and I realized that I need conditioning more than they do!

It is so true. At the end of a long day, or a long week, getting on your horse can be the best kind of therapy. At least for me it’s a combination of relief and meditation; the ability to focus on the now and to clear my mind of the trials and tribulations that cloud my mind. When I meditate, I focus on my own breathing;when I ride, I’m listening to my horse’s. Especially in the spring, when Zelda and Freedom are feeling good, they require my total concentration, so when I get off, I’m tired in a good way.
