
Another “Bird” won the Belmont Stakes. Summer Bird, the half brother of Mine That Bird showed that Birdstone is passing along serious speed and stamina to his prodigy.
In 2004, Birdstone upset Smarty Jones by winning the Belmont. His stud fee (up until now) has been $10K. But I suspect that will change.

I could not agree more. If Birdstone is siring strength and stamina, that is a real blessing. It will wind up helping the whole horse world (jumpers, Grand Prix horses, dressage) where thoroughbreds are used!
Thanks for posting this! Isn’t it wonderful to finally hear about a sire that not only produces fast horses, but sturdy, fast horses!? I personally enjoy seeing young horses emerging that can handle the classic distances. So many people seem focused on sprints these days.
