In Texas, a sober horse isn’t enough

Earlier this week I posted the commercial being aired in Montana that encourages those who’ve had a bit too much to drink to let a sober friend take them home — in the commercial, the cowboy’s horse comes to pick him up.

Well two men in Austin tried this tactic but with less success. Jose Rios, 33, and Samuel Olivo Jr, 48, were caught riding a horse and mule on a busy city street while obviously drunk.

Officers conducted a field sobriety test on the two and then charged them with driving while intoxicated.

The charges were later reduced to public intoxication since the laws describing drunk diving in Texas are unclear in regards to riding horses.
