If you’ve ever dreamed about owning a racehorse — or at least a portion of one — why not start with one of the best? A 2.5% ownership fraction of undefeated Flightline, the racing phenom who has captured the imagination of so many racing enthusiasts, will be auctioned off at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale on November 7th in a promotion by Land’s End (where Flightline will stand at stud) and Keeneland. The fractional interest is offered by West Point Thoroughbreds, one of five ownership groups in Flightline. It is expected to be the only opportunity to buy into Flightline before he retires to stud. Should Flightline continue to race beyond the Breeders’ Cup, the purchaser of the fractional interest will also be a part of his racing ownership.
There’s no doubt that undefeated Flightline is one of the most exciting horses racing today. Tipped as a favorite for the Breeders’ Cup Classic, Flightline had a fairytale story — a horse that suffered a serious injury that sidelined him as a two year old, but who has come back as an older horse to show amazing tenacity and speed. His 19 1/4 length win in the Pacific Classic earned comparisons to Secretariat and the Beyer speed figure of 126 in that race has many thinking he’s the fastest racehorse on the planet.
The auction will take place two days after the Classic, where Flightline will face the toughest field of his brief racing career. All eight of his projected opponents have all won Grade 1 races and earned more than $1 million on the track, with Hot Rod Charlie topping the field with career earnings of $5,556,720. Other entries include Cyberknife, Epicenter, Happy Saver, Life is Good, Olympiad, Rich Strike and Tiaba.
Depending on what happens in the $6 million Classic, some industry experts have estimated that Flightline’s value as a stallion could reach $60 million or more.
Innovative Metaverse Auction Experience
As if auctioning off a percentage of such an amazing horse isn’t enough, the November sale offers bidders an immersive, first-of-its-kind Metaverse experience giving viewers an up-close look at the sale from a virtual sales ring modeled after Keeneland’s setting.

Interested bidders must register in advance, have established credit with Keeneland Sales, and meet such additional requirements as Keeneland or Lane’s End may request. Qualified bidders may bid on the fractional interest in-person at Keeneland, via Keeneland’s online auction platform, or by phone. At the conclusion of the auction, the winning bidder will own 2.5% of Flightline and have all rights, benefits, and obligations of a co-owner of the horse pursuant to a syndicate agreement.
Don’t miss your chance to bid on one of the most exciting racehorses of the decade. Or at least, log in like I will to vicariously enjoy the bidding.
Wellll, considering what he might be worth in the stud (and there’s no proof that he will pass on his talent, eg Secretariat or worse, Cigar), I think I’ve been priced out of that 2.5%. Besides, I bet they won’t give me visiting rights.
