Nope. I didn’t cry while watching this video. Not me. In one six-minute video, Alistair Bane sums up so succinctly how it was his horse — barely bigger than a pony — who helped him find relief in his darkest hours.
I think we all know how much our horses help us on the bad days. They meet us where we are with no expectations and no criticisms. This recording from the Moth (btw, one of my favorite podcasts), just resonates with me on so many levels. I hope that it reaches people who don’t yet understand the magical connection between horse and human (and our connections with other animals). If humans can start to bring the same acceptance as our animals to our world, imagine how much healing could take place.
There’s a meme that says horses are cheaper than therapy. I’m not sure that’s exactly true. But they certainly are more fun. And their healing powers are underrated.
One more thing. Go give your horse (or dog or cat or other pet) a hug and let them know how much you appreciate their love and acceptance.
