This video of the Chilean cavalry is impressive. I’ve ridden in several reenactment rides (raising the Minutemen) and I can’t imagine how long it takes to train your horse to accept the drumming and crowds — especially when riding without hands.
In fact, when I first started playing the role of Captain John Smith (who took over when Paul Revere was captured in Lincoln), I was surprised to find that my horse minded the drums far more than the musket shots. The drumming sent him into high gear!
This was really cool. I wonder if they stuff their horses ears with cotton or something because not many at my stable would be this calm. Very well ridden.
