Horse vs. Foot

It’s been awhile since I’ve been stepped on but this week I got nailed — and hard. In the contest of horse vs. foot, Freedom definitely won.

Right after I finished clipping Freedom, my phone rang. I was distracted for only a second but it was long enough for him to swing his hind end over and step on my right foot. I managed not to scream (at him, or in pain) while I talked to my client, but it wasn’t easy to keep my cool.

This wasn’t a glancing blow. It was a direct hit. Thank goodness I was wearing sturdy boots; I can’t imagine how much it would have hurt otherwise. Never, ever work around horses in sandals or bare feet!

Thank goodness, too for Sore No More. As soon as I got home I alternated between ice and Arnica. The initial swelling was bad enough that I even contemplated getting an x-ray to see if it was broken, but since I could still walk, I thought I’d wait.

The next morning it was still sore and starting to turn a nice shade of purple, but it was obvious that it wasn’t broken, just bruised. And without the Sore No More, I suspect it would have been a lot more colorful.

So, when was the last time you got stepped on? And did you escape with just bruising or was it worse?
