Palace Malice, the “rabbit” who ran away with Mike Smith in the Derby came back today with a perfect run to win the Belmont. He was one of the five horses entered by Todd Pletcher.
In the Derby, the horse was wearing blinkers for the first time in a race. They were noticeably absent today. It was also reported that Palace Malice never settled and Mike Smith eventually just decided to let him run. Today it appeared that Mike was in charge.
Wow. I missed the Belmont today and I appreciated the replay. How excited for the Derby and Preakness winner to run 2nd and 3rd. Even the 3rd place finish brought back Orb to a level of respectability.
