Jockey Mike Smith, left, and Cot Campbell, President of Dogwood Stables, hold the Belmont Stakes trophy in the winner’s circle.

Palace Malice, the “rabbit” who ran away with Mike Smith in the Derby came back today with a perfect run to win the Belmont. He was one of the five horses entered by Todd Pletcher.

In the Derby, the horse was wearing blinkers for the first time in a race. They were noticeably absent today. It was also reported that Palace Malice never settled and Mike Smith eventually just decided to let him run. Today it appeared that Mike was in charge.
