Gravity defying cross country saves

What’s the difference between a good event rider and a great one? Certainly one thing is their “stickability” and shear determination. Here are some gravity defying videos from some of the great riders who are NOT going to touch the ground!

Let me know if you have any favorite cross country “save” videos that should be on this list.

Michael Jung and Sam at Aachan

William Fox-Pitt and Cool Mountain

Andrew Nicholson and Mr. Smiffy at Burghley

Gwendolen Fer and Leria Du Ter at Badminton

Karen O’Connor and Park Hall at Rolex

  1. Good grief. I have to say, Karen O’Conner was my fav save. Nothing to help her out but sheer will: no momentum! She fought the laws of physics and won. 🙂

  2. I love all these videos. I don’t love the video of the guy at show jumping who tries to climb back on his horse by hooking his heels on the horse’s knees… that video is going around a lot lately and annoys me. Sometimes you lose, don’t use your horse as a step stool if it’s pretty obvious it’s not going to happen.

  3. Karen O’Connor–what a good horse! All of them are good, but Karen’s horse just makes that one the winner.
