Mucho Macho Man wins the Breeder's Cup
Mucho Macho Man on the rail JUST holds off Will Take Charge to win the Breeder’s Cup. Declaration of War was a head back for third.

The 2013 Breeder’s Cup Classic was a nail biter! Mucho Macho Man (who was second in 2012) held onto a late challenge by Will Take Charge to win by barely a nose. Just as well for him that the finish line came up when it did. Declaration of War was a head back for third. You don’t get many finishes this exciting.

The $5 million Breeder’s Cup is the richest purse in America.

With this win, Mucho Macho Man gave his connections some racing firsts — trainer Kathy Ritvo became the first woman to trainer a Breeder’s Cup Classic winner and it was also veteran jockey Gary Stevens’ first Breeder’s Cup win. Stevens, 50, returned to racing this year after spending 7 years in retirement.
