Sometimes the romantic notion of a horse wedding comes up against the reality of including an animal with its own opinion into your ceremony. What bride doesn’t want to make a show-stopping entrance on her big day? And, as a horse lover, what better way to do that than to make your appearance on your dashing charger! Of course, as the bride in the featured photo found out, the horse may not always have read the script.
I’ve only been to one wedding that featured the bride and groom on horseback (it was a hunt wedding) and those horses were quite well behaved. In fact, we were all on horseback as we witnessed the ceremony and then, Taly Ho! We were off. I can still remember the first fence, which was right after we left the proceedings and caught a lot of airtime. Yipee!
Here are a few brides who might have wished they had worn helmets with their wedding gowns.
This was a great way to start my weekend. Hahaha. I would bet a dollar that neither of these brides were actually riders. That first girl might have had a chance if she’d been holding her own reins and hadn’t gotten whipped in a circle by the handler. Ouch! That photo with the Friesian is one of my favorite things on the internet. And the hunt wedding sounds super sweet <3
Ouch is right…but good grief, if you’re going to get married on horseback, for godsakes ditch the ugly dress. I can only imagine what the horse thinks when he sees this enormous white thing come billowing at him. I agree with Dom, above…bet my lunch neither of the girls had much..if any riding experience.
Now, I can completely see having a horse as my Maid of Honor…
Suddenly the video loaded..not only did the girl get put on the bald faced horse from the wrong side, but the handler wasn’t paying attention, and at the end, look at the horse..he was scared to death of the dress. Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
