Name the Old Friends Filly

Old Friends Filly

Here’s a fun contest. Old Friends, the thoroughbred retirement organization, is asking for help naming a filly.

High Heels ’19 is a 3-year-old filly by Mineshaft out of the mare High Heels. She is a registered Thoroughbred, unraced due to injury, and so is without a proper name. Before she has a total identity crisis, we’re asking your help to secure this pretty girl the perfect moniker.

In order to comply with Jockey Club rules, the name must be no more than 18 characters, including spaces and punctuation. Note: it’s not unusual for punctuation to be a bit different. Freedom’s registered name is Freedom onthe Wind, for example.

Names containing profanity or anything inappropriate will not be considered.

Check to see if a name’s been used at the Jockey Club’s Interactive Registration Online Names Book.

From the submissions, a panel of Old Friends judges will chose five finalists, verify the names are available via the Jockey Club, and put those to a final vote.

The winning name will be filed with the Jockey Club!

The person submitting the winning name will win a prize. Choose from a Tour Gift Certificate for four ($100 value) or a copy of our coffee table book, The Art of Old Friends ($50. value)
