It’s hard to believe that 2009 is over.
Looking back at the blur of days and months there are a few things that I feel good about on the equestrian front.
I forged a deeper bond with Freedom who has flourished as my one and only horse. I moved him up to the first flight and started to jump him in the hunt field. I’m pleased that he’s turning into a great hunt horse and a fun horse to ride. I’ve stopped thinking about him as being “not Kroni” and come to appreciate the horse he is — athletic, brave, and kind.
I launched http://www.equineproductsreview.com after working on it for several years. Okay, it was a mixed success — while I’m pleased that the site is finally live, I’m also locked in a bitter dispute with a web programmer who sent me an invoice for twice the amount of the contract I signed — and who has now sent a collections agency after me for the disputed portion of his invoice. Sigh. This was supposed to be fun. If I have a resolution for 2010 it’s to take the next step and really make the site work. And not pay the jerk another dime.
I’ve made contact with some fascinating equestrians around the country and even around the world. I’m amazed on a daily basis by the incredible reach of blogs . . . and the people who find my writing from far reaches of the world. It’s a real testament to the bond that horse people share, the instant connection that horses provide. I so much enjoy the correspondence I have with my “blogger buddies” as my daughter calls them.
It was too cold and icy here to saddle up for the New Year . . . but I’m hoping that we get enough snow over night to make the first ride of 2010 a gallop through a pristine field of white snow!
