An update on Neptune Collonges, winner of the 2012 John Smith’s Aintree Grand National appeared in Horse & Hound, reveals that plans are being made for his retirement. The horse is sound, happy and enjoying the adulation of his fans.
According to Georgie Nicholls, the wife of “Nipper’s” trainer:
“He’ll be seen again doing something I’m sure. He’s so capable, kind, easy and straightforward — I’ve been inundated with requests from people wanting to take him hunting. He’s got an enormous jump so he’d be good at it!”
Now, that would be a heck of a horse to take out hunting, for sure! And how nice to see a horse that has retired sound and will likely be given another job in his “retirement.”
