Hopes for a Triple Crown win were dashed by Oxbow who led wire to wire today in the Preakness — the first horse to do so since 1982. Kudos to 50-year old jockey Gary Stevens who only recently came out of retirement. He might not have made his comeback at the Derby, but he sure made an impression today.
Liz, while we were disappointed by Orbs lackluster run, a second look at the race showed how well Rosie N navigated the traffic to bring Mylute in third. Grrlprops to her!
CV, you are right. Rosie made history with her Triple Crown runs. Her fifth place finish in the Derby was the top finish by any female jockey in that race and she was only the third woman jockey to compete in the Preakness. She was also the highest placed woman jockey in that race. Go Rosie!
