Judging by the bids that are coming in (bidding starts at $100 per painting), this will be a successful venture! If you’re interested, don’t delay — The auctions will run for only 5 more days.

This year’s selection includes paintings by Rags to Riches, Cigar, Medaglia d’Oro, Empire Maker, Lawyer Ron, Kona Gold, and The Green Monkey.

Honestly, if I had the money I’d buy one just because of the name!

According to ReRun,

Moneighs® are paintings created by Thoroughbred racehorses. We use non-toxic, washable paint and place different colors on a palette. The horse is then encouraged to nuzzle the paint, getting it on his or her nose. An artist’s pad is then placed before them, which they are allowed to snort, lick and smudge the paint on. When finished, a beautiful and unique piece of artwork with colorful swirls and streaks exists. They are exclusive to ReRun and have been sold since 2001 to help raise money for our organization.

The paintings are framed and also include a circle of the horse’s mane or tail.

  1. I LOVE this!! What a great idea for a fundraiser. I’ve seen similar things done with dolphins using paintbrushes. The only thing I’m not too excited about is the horses ingesting paint- even if it is non-toxic. Very cool post!
