Although horses have long been marked by brands and lip tattoos, a German court ruled today that a man cannot tattoo the Rolling Stones logo on his pony’s shoulder.

Ulrich Abt, 27, hoped to open an animal tattoo parlor lost a two year court battle to allow him to “beautify” his pony with a tattoo of the lips and tongue logo.

The  court ruled against the tattoo, saying it would contravene animal welfare laws by causing it unnecessary pain.

Abt should start practicing his quartermarks!
