This is one of my favorite antique postcards. I love the delicacy of the hand tinting, the grace of the handwriting and the luxury of the woman’s cape. It makes me think of the ultimate sleigh ride! This postcard was mailed in the early 1900s.
I collect Victorian-era postcards that have horses in them. Many of them are hand-tinted and are truly lovely. Some of them I use in digital collages. I would hate to admit how many I own!
Edited to add — I do enhance the images. This particular one was pretty well preserved, even though it was postally used. But many of them are quite faded. I’ll post another one this evening so you can see the before/after photo shop.
What a great hobby! So simple and unique. I have a friend who who collects vintage Hawaii postcards. Historical horse ones is even more fun. Thanks for sharing.
The colors are beautiful. I’m curious how you found such a treasure.
